Kara Tremel is currently performing in the Chicago cast of the Tony Award winning musical Jersey Boys.
The Moose Jaw Dance Festival is a lot like Christmas it comes only once a year. You see family and friends. Share memories, make memories, dance, sing and be merry. And like Christmas, the Moose Jaw dance festival taught me that giving is a lot more rewarding then receiving. To give an audience a smile, a creation that captures their hearts, beats receiving an award or a medal any day!
My memories include:
- The smell of Dippity doo hair gel and aqua net hairspray.
- The glitter and sequins colouring the floor from tap shoes and costumes.
- Mrs. Sitter in the off stage corner with her program watching discreetly.
- The months of rehearsing and practicing, straight lines, style and technique.
- The wonderful adjudicators.
- One week’s vacation from school. The many friends I made many of whom I have recently reconnected.
- Learning the most important rule in live performance -keep going no matter what happens!
- Smile! Smile! Smile!
- Trying to overcome nerves. Crying when it was all over because I knew I would have to wait one whole year for it to come all over again.
